Mediaevalia was founded in 1975 as a forum for innovative scholarship across a variety of fields in the Middle Ages and early Renaissance. It welcomes submissions from both established and junior scholars on all aspects of medieval and early Renaissance culture. One of the first multidisciplinary journals in North America, it is committed to rigorous standards of peer-review and has received the Phoenix Award for Significant Editorial Achievement from the Council of Editors of Learned Journals.

Mediaevalia is edited at Binghamton University's Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies and is published by Penn State University Press.
