The Acorn
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The Acorn welcomes original manuscripts that develop philosophical approaches to pacifism and nonviolence. Shorter papers, essays, book reviews, and letters to the editor are also welcome. There is no charge for submission or publication in this journal.
Authors must confirm that they have not used generative AI to contribute to the content or citations of manuscripts submitted to?The Acorn. Any other author use of AI tools must be disclosed to the editors at the time of submission.
Submissions may be up to 8,000 words in length. Article manuscripts should be prepared for anonymous review with title, abstract (150-200 words), author identification, contact info, and institutional affiliation (if any) supplied on a cover sheet.
All submissions must be made in electronic format via e-mail to the Editor, Greg Moses, at [email protected]. Please include ¡°Acorn Journal Submission¡± in the subject line. Word format is preferred for all manuscripts (.docx, .doc).
Authors should follow the style guidelines in the current edition of the MLA Handbook.
Editorial Procedure
The editorial procedure will usually be as follows.
- Authors receive email confirming receipt of their submission.
- Preliminary editorial review of content, completeness, and style.
- Manuscripts that meet the preliminary criteria are sent out for blind review.
- After review, authors receive email notification of the journal's editorial judgment.
The review process is usually completed within six weeks. Approximately half of all submissions are accepted for publication.
The Acorn reserves the right to edit or shorten all submissions. The journal accepts no responsibility for unsolicited manuscripts.
All material published in the journal is copyrighted in the name of The Acorn: Philosophical Studies in Pacifism and Nonviolence. This ensures that the journal hasthe necessary permission to publish in all formats.
Authors retain the right to reuse their texts in all other publications they write or edit, with acknowledgement of prior publication in The Acorn.
All material published in the journal is covered by its Open Access Archiving Policy.
