Journal of Islamic Philosophy
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submissions are welcome from anyone working in the field: professors, scholars, students. Submissions may be of any reasonable length (under forty manuscript pages), and must meet professional and academic standards for original work suitable for publication. English language submissions are strongly preferred.
The journal follows The Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.) for citations and general style. A helpful resource on The Chicago Manual of Style is available HERE. Please include complete citations in embedded footnotes for each cited article. Footnotes must be complete because bibliographies are not included.
To ensure that special characters display correctly, articles should be submitted in Gentium font with transliterations as necessary. The Gentium font is an open-source font and works on both PCs and Macs. It may be downloaded HERE.
Manuscripts must be be submitted in Word format (.docx, .doc) through the journal's online submission system. Please do not send papers to the editor by email.
Article manuscripts must include an abstract of 100-150 words. You may also include a list of subject descriptors or key terms - this is optional.
Authors must confirm that they have not used generative AI to contribute to the content or citations of manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Islamic Philosophy. Any other author use of AI tools must be disclosed to the editors at the time of submission.
In the message accompanying your submission please include:
- your name
- university or organizational affiliation
- mailing address
- telephone / fax number
- e-mail address where you can be reached during the production process

The Journal of Islamic Philosophy reserves the right to make necessary editorial and design changes prior to final publication.
